Find The Floor

A dignity-based experiment in what becomes possible when a human being has enough support to make choices from the truth of their own being.

The Floor is an exploration of where Life lives. The Floor is an interdisciplinary artwork and social experiment exploring the conditions that allow a human being to discover and remain fully present in their own life.It begins with three forms of ground:The Inherent Floor — Everyone is worthy.
Worth is not earned through sacrifice, enduring, being useful, compliant, or successful. The worth of a human being is inherent.
The Material Floor — What is enough?
Enough shelter, food, safety, time, money, rest, and creative room are needed for real choice to become possible.
The Relational Floor — Being true.
When a floor is enough, a person can meet external pressures by staying present with themselves.
No human being should ever have to betray the deepest truth of who they are to live.A Participatory ArtworkThrough literary texts, hand-marked tile fragments, symbolic objects, participatory questions, and visible gold seams, The Floor asks what becomes possible when the inherent dignity of being human is embraced.Community members are invited to respond through words, symbols, colors, and marks. Individual tiles are assembled publicly into a collective floor—each one retaining its own edges while becoming part of something larger.Together, the tiles form a visible record of what people believe a human life needs in order to flourish, choose, create, rest, and belong. The Floor does not ask who deserves support.
It asks what support makes possible.
The Founding QuestionWhat could a person become if they found enough floor beneath them? The writing practice carries this inquiry through three forms: memoir, field notes, and economic prayers. The personal threshold widens into a shared exploration of dignity, support, belonging, and choice:What kind of support would make honesty more viable?
What kind of ground would make room for a real yes and a real no?
What becomes possible when support does not arrive locked together with obligation?
The larger practice includes a monthly letter, public participation, and a community engagement project working toward the development of a Human Dignity Dividend Fund. The longer-term vision is to create a fund capable of placing a material floor beneath one human life for one year—enough support to make room for real choice, without prescribing what that year must produce. The living question is:If you received one year of enough support—a floor beneath your life, no strings attached—what would become possible for you?The Floor begins as a letter, a fund, a story, and a doorway.Enter the inquiry. Join the letter. Help build The Floor.
